KIRURGIJA BITENC d.o.o.

Kirurgija Bitenc is a private surgical centre which, since 2000, has been providing specialist outpatient services, endoscopic diagnostics, surgical procedures and inpatient care. Its work is divided into three areas: specialist outpatient clinics, endoscopy and surgical procedures requiring hospitalisation.

Outpatient and endoscopic services are provided at the Zdravstveni zavod Zdravje at Vilharjev podhod 1 in Ljubljana, whilst operations and hospitalisation take place in the hospital ward within the Golnik Clinic. An operating theatre was opened there in 2007, which, at the time of its opening, was the most technologically advanced in Slovenia.

The team

Patients are cared for by a whole team: specialist surgeons, anaesthetists and internists, nursing specialists, physiotherapists and dietitians. The centre is headed by Marko Bitenc, MSc, MD, a specialist in thoracic surgery. For specific areas, they collaborate with established specialist surgeons.

Quality and safety

In 2014, the institution obtained two international accreditations — Healthcare Accreditation Standards (American Accreditation Council) and the DNV GL International Accreditation Programme for Hospitals. Both confirm that patients are treated in accordance with standards that ensure a high level of safety.
